John Taylor "Sandy" Dickinson
August 3, 1939 - February 3, 2015
John Taylor “Sandy” Dickinson, of Marmaduke, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 3, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Sandy was born on August 3, 1939, to John W. Dickinson and Jewel Schufflebarger Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Rollie Mac Dickinson, a son, Derick Dickinson, a granddaughter, Heather Dickinson, and his companion of many years, Sharon Carter. He is survived by two sons, Michael and Patrick Dickinson, a daughter, Maria Vowell, a daughter-in-law, Becky (Derick) Dickinson, and four grandchildren, Christopher, Cody, and Alex Dickinson, and Matthew Vowell. He also leaves behind numerous other relatives and friends, and a large group of coffee-drinking buddies, all of whom he loved. Sandy was an adventurer, a person of many talents, and a great story teller. He was a farmer, a mechanic who could literally fix almost anything, and a shrimp boat Captain in the Gulf of Mexico. It also should be noted that when Sandy told the story of one of his adventures, as outlandish as it may have sounded, the vast majority of the time he was telling the truth. He had lived life to the fullest, and always had a grin on his face and time for his friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Irby Funeral Home chapel in Marmaduke. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the same location. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Paragould Children's Homes, the National Rifle Association, or the charity of your choice. Those who wish may send condolences to the family by signing the online guest book at www.irbyfuneralhome.com or visit our Facebook page.
