Lola Grace Cossey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lola Grace Sanders Cossey, originally from Rector, AR, went home to be with our Lord on January 13, 2015. She passed from this life at the University Medical Center in Lebanon, TN (near Nashville) after a very brief admission there. She won the battle with lung cancer in 2004, and later developed severe heart complications. Mrs. Cossey was born December 16, 1930, in Leonard, AR, to the late Elic and Margie (Baker) Sanders. She married her high school sweetheart, Bobby Gene Cossey, also of the Leonard area, on June 6, 1945. The union of that marriage brought forth 4 children, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Cossey was widowed on June 9, 1992, when her husband went to Heaven. The Jaymar Ruby Garment Factory in Rector was her place of employment for 23 years before her retirement. She later went on to babysit for several local families and became affectionately known as "Granny Grace" to the community. Mrs. Cossey was a long time member of the Rector First General Baptist Church, where her husband also served as a deacon for many years. If Mrs. Cossey could tell you anything today about what meant most to her, it would be all about her faith in Jesus Christ and also about her family. She adored her son, Jerry Cossey and daughter in law, Sherry of Rector; Daughter, Beverly Easton Cossey, whom also preceded her in death in 2004; Daughter, Sandy Varvil and son in law, Tony, of Lexington, TN; Daughter, Kimberly Bradford and son in law, Michael, of Lebanon, TN. The loves of her life also included grandchildren, Jamie Cossey Pitts of Fayetteville, AR; Kobie Cossey Turner Jerry, of Marmaduke, AR; Jeremy Cossey of Topeka, KS; Kory Cossey and Megan, of Mt. Vernon, MO; Brandon Morgan of Rector, AR, whom preceded her in death in 2011; Shad Easton and Amanda of Springdale, AR; Neeley Easton Williams and James Robert, of Fayetteville, AR; Brandon Bracken and Amie of Bon Aqua, TN; Ricky Varvil of Lexington, TN; Jordan Bradford and Mindy, of Lebanon, TN; and Isaac Bradford of Lebanon, TN. Great grandchildren include: Tyler Pitts and Tenisha of Fayetteville, AR; Kennedy Pitts of Fayetteville, AR; Jennifer Hill of Paragould, AR; Trevor Hill of Jonesboro, AR; Krystal Cossey, Kaylie Cossey, Jonathan Cossey, Abby Cossey, Kristian Cossey, and Ashlynn Shelton of Mt. Vernon, MO; Emma Grace Easton of Bentonville, AR; Jansen Williams of Fayetteville, AR; Miles Bracken of Bon Aqua, TN. Great-great granchildren are Xaiden Hill of Paragould, AR, and Daysen Pitts of Fayetteville, AR. Mrs. Cossey leaves behind sisters, Evaline Cobb of Rector, AR, and Cleata Terry of Kennett, MO, and a host of nephews and nieces that she loved very much. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Hershal Sanders of Rector, AR, and sisters, Anna Robinson of Rector, AR, and Opal Eubanks of Paragould, AR. Her mother and father in law were the late Harry and Mabel Cossey, of the Rector area. The viewing will be Friday, January 16, 2015, at The First General Baptist Church in Rector, AR, from 6-9 pm. A Home Going Celebration for Mrs. Cossey will be January 17, 2015, at 2:00 pm, also at the church, with Pastor Jordan Bradford officiating; The story of her life told by Pastor Michael Bradford; A special video tribute from Pastor Carroll McGruder and Music by Worship Pastor, Isaac Bradford and many favorite local singers & musicians. Arrangements provided by Irby Funeral Home in Rector with interment at Woodland Heights Cemetary, also in Rector.
